Hello Everyone!! Well it's been a little while

DSC02332Hello Everyone!! Well it's been a little while since I have had the chance to write. I apologize to everyone about that, but i assure you we have been busy. It's going to be Christmas already next week and you must be asking what have you been up to the last month and a half?!?

The month of November brought lots of sunshine and hot weather. We have had lots of almost 30 degree weather days. Not much rain though. Although hot weather is nice for us. it's not so good for farmers. The rolling hills that we so rich and green when we arrived are all now very dry and brown. In November in the area we live in we had the record low of rain ever recorded. A small 7mm of rain all month.

Dyl and I have been busy lately. We have had 2 new jobs in the last month. The first was working at theDSC02372 apple orchards. There are quite a few orchards in this area. Our job was thinning the apples from teh trees. A job which is very tedious and long but at least the sun kept us up a bit. We were working on trees that were from 7 or 8ft to some that we needed to stand on the top of 8ft ladders to just barely reach the top. We had to go through every branch on the tree and pick off about 2/3 of the fruit. The apples were about from the size of olives to the size of apricots.  So some trees had almost 1000 apples on it and we had to pick of most of them and let them drop to the ground. The bad side to this job was the pay. but hte upside of course was the fresh air.

A few weeks after we stared working at the orchards We both got calls from the 'freezing works' or Silver Fern Farms. This is a very large meat plant. I think for those who are from Moncton it is like Hub meat packers. At this plant there are a few different sections. The slaughter board, the boning room, and processed products. We are in teh processed products section. Taking the cut frozen meat and using all the machinery to turn it into products like burgers diced chicken, diced lamb, DSC02423sausages etc... So in this sterile enviroment we have to where the white clothes provided gloves white rubber boots. The whole deal. Upside of course to this job is the pay. Dwnside is being in a 4degree fridge for 9 hours. Our shift is from 3pm to 11:45 pm so we do still get the majority of our day to be outside. It is only temporary of course.

We have also of course been keeping up with our fishing on the weekends. I caught a 9kg kingfish the other weekend. We have also stared to catch the groper for the season. Dyl caught the first three, and I caught one as well. They are definatly the better sport fish to catch, as they can be caught from a few kgs up to 25kg's.

We stopped in to see Seth at work the other day. He is a presser at a shearing shed. What he does is press the wool down into 500kg bails after it's been sheared. A very interesting process. DSC02419

DSC02381Other than fishing we have been getting ready for Christmas. Dylan and Seth just returned from cutting a Christmas tree form the side of the raod. It is very cute i must say. Not nearly as big as I had hoped for. The season is getting to feel a bit christmassy, with music in shops and on the radio. Christmas lights on people's houses. It's definatly not like being in the cold but it seems like Christmas will come in the summer just the same. Here's a few photos of where we live.

I hope everyone has great holidays.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEARS!!!DSC02401
